012 Reception

The Detroit College Promise would like to thank all who attended the 2012 Scholars Reception on July 23, 2012. We were pleased to be able to announce an increase in the scholarship awards for the class of 2012. This year we will be giving students a maximum award of $550 and a book award of $110 for those students who are receiving FAFSA related grants that will pay 100% of their tuition and mandatory fees. This award is up from last year where we gave students $500 and $100 for scholarships or book awards. Click here for a list of awardees for the 2012-13 college year, sorted by name, and here for totals by college/university and DPS high school. If you did not pick up your gift pack or scholars certificate at the reception, call us at 248-646-3269, and we can arrange a time for you to stop by our office to pick it up.

hank you

Dear Dr. Pernick:

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in funding the 2012 Detroit College Promise Scholarship. It is because of your generosity that I am able to focus on my academics and reduce my concern for financial obligations. Receiving assistance from the Detroit College Promise will give me an opportunity to work with mentors, established industry professionals, and future colleagues. Through your contribution, I can continue my studies at Wayne State University as a registered undergraduate student with 12 credit hours. Your foundation will provide me with vast resources that allow me to develop my technical and practical skills that will enable me to excel in my career as a physician. Again, I want to thank you for taking the time and energy you invested in me. So that I could take advantage of this opportunity of a lifetime in these financially challenging times!

pdatesDCP Updates

We have updated the scholarship acceptance form for 2013, click
here. There are a few changes - we now require a copy of your drivers license or state identification card. To make the transcript easier to obtain, you can either give us the complete transcript, or the transcript after the first term of grade 12 plus a copy of your diploma after you graduate. The deadline is July 1, 2013, so we strongly suggest that students start the process in January 2013. Unfortunately, there will be no extensions.
