Seniors, July 1st Is The Deadline To Turn In All Forms

In order to receive the DCP Scholarship, seniors must send us three forms by July 1, 2012. 

  • A high school transcript (to confirm that they are attending a DPS school)
  • A completed scholarship acceptance form (click here)
  • A financial aid award letter from the college or university they will be attending.

Nordstrom is excited to award $10,000 scholarships to 80 outstanding high school students to help them achieve their dreams of going to college. The Nordstrom Scholarship recognizes students across the country for their exceptional scholastic achievement and community involvement. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2012.

The Nordstrom Scholarship is open to high school juniors who:

  • Live and attend school in one of the participating 30 states where Nordstrom currently has a full-line store.  
  • Have at least a 2.7 GPA (based on a 4.0 scale) throughout high school.
  • Volunteer or participate in community services or extracurricular activities.
  • Plan on attending an accredited four-year college or university during the four years over which the scholarship is distributed. The scholarship is paid out in equal installments of $2,500.
  • Plan on applying for financial assistance in order to attend college.

2012 Metro Detroit Youth Day Scholarship  

 

The Metro Detroit Youth Day Scholarship is aimed at students in the Detroit Metropolitan area who have maintained good standing academically and who have overcome personal challenges to graduate from high school and go on to an institution of higher learning. The following criteria must be met to be considered for the scholarship: 

  • Students who will be graduating from a public, parochial, private or charter high school
  • Students who have been accepted into a four-year university or college or a two-year community college program and will be attending for fall enrollment
  • Students who show financial need; i.e., no other scholarships; limited family income, etc.
  • Students who have average and above grade point average 
  • Students who live in the greater Metropolitan Detroit area
  • Students who have been recommended by their school counselor, principal, teacher, minister or community leader

Help Your School Reach The Top Of The List In May!  

 

The race to the top has begun. We want all DPS K-8 students to help move their school to the top of the list in registrations! Our goal is to register all DPS K-8 students.  Students can sign up online by visiting www.DetroitCollegePromise.org, then click on Student Login in the upper right hand corner, then click on New Student Signup towards the bottom, then fill in the form, then click Save.  Students can also complete our one-page application at http://www.detroitcollegepromise.com/scholarshipapplication.pdf. The totals for schools that have registered at least 25% of its students as of 4/26/2012 are:
