This is our monthly email providing important information to Detroit Public School (DPS) high school students, parents and other concerned adults about preparing for college.
College Readiness and Beyond! Prepare Now!
Register for The Detroit College Promise scholarships
We urge all DPS high school students (grades 9, 10, 11 and 12) to register this week for our scholarships. The deadline for seniors is December 1, 2009. To register, visit our Home Page at http://www.DetroitCollegePromise.org, then click on the Student Login button on the right hand side. More details are available here. It takes only 2 minutes. We offer scholarships to almost all seniors at Cody and Douglass, and just added a limited number of scholarships at Cass Tech, Central, Pershing and Trombly. We will add scholarships for the remaining DPS high schools over the next 1-2 years. Tell your friends to register! We also urge all Cody graduates in 2009 to register. Our scholarship is good for up to 10 years from graduation, but you must register and keep your online information up to date.

Register for The Detroit Compact scholarships
We also urge all DPS high school students to register for the Detroit Compact scholarships, sponsored by the Detroit Regional Chamber, which pay FULL TUITION to most Michigan universities. The application takes only 5-10 minutes (click here for more details). The scholarship requirements are a cumulative GPA of 3.0, ACT score of 21 and 95% attendance, which all students should try to achieve. Contact Robert Troutman at (313) 596-0478 or rtroutma@detroitchamber.com.
