This is our monthly email providing important information for Detroit Public School students, parents, teachers and staff, and others interested in preparing Detroit students for college. Annual Drive for Detroit College Promise 
Our Annual Drive is well under way. This year, our goal is to raise our maximum scholarship to $2,000 for the Class of 2015. Please consider donating and spreading the word to help DPS students achieve higher education!

DCP News

(6) DCP, in collaboration with the DPS Foundation, will be holding a small focus group of past scholar recipients Wednesday, December 17th at the MSU Detroit Center. If you have received an email from us inviting you to attend, please RSVP to as soon as possible.

(7) The Detroit College Promise is pleased to be partnering with a group of Masters of Social Work students from the University of Michigan to evaluate the effectiveness of the scholarship program, and how it can better serve DPS students. Results should be available in early 2015.

Western Michigan Scholarship Workshops in Detroit 

Thinking of a summer job?
Teens ages 13-17 who are east side Detroit residents could qualify for this summer job!  The radio show, Steps-NCADD & Steps-Radio is recruiting.

Pershing, Osborn, and Southeastern schools may apply.

Parents Should contact Ms. McWilliams at (313) 868-1340 (Ext. 111) if you have teens who can commit to once a week (Thursdays) Program Schedule for Prevention Education (4PM--7PM). Follow Steps Radio on Facebook for more info.

Boston Public engages parents to help turn around the schools
An interesting read on how to engage parents in the public schools:
