Information For Parents Who Want To
Know The Status Of Their Child's Scholarship Payment
Please click on
the Status link in the lower right corner of our Home Page (or click here) to check the status of payments
for The Detroit College Promise or The Detroit Housing Commission
Scholarships. State colleges and universities know which students were
awarded scholarships, but we cannot send them a check until their drop/add
deadline has passed, and the college or university has verified that each
student is full time (12 credits or more). More details are on the Status

our Scholarship Recipients page (click here), which lists the name, high
school and college of all DCP scholars from 2009 to date.
Youth Leadership Summit On Race
New Detroit, in partnership with the University of
Michigan-Dearborn, will host a free Youth Leadership Summit on Race for
racially diverse high school students in Grades 9-12 on October 27, 2012
from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This year's theme will focus on racial bullying.
This highly popular one-day event is limited to 250 students and provides
an opportunity for student leaders to network with other high school
students throughout Southeastern Michigan. Registration is free however
you must complete an on-line application in advance in order to attend (click
here for the application.) The summit will be held on the campus of
the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Kochoff Hall, 4901 Evergreen

College Promise In The Community

- Dr. Pernick attended the Rainbow Push and Real Times Media
Automotive Career Day at Cass Tech on October 2, 2012. The event was
geared to High School Seniors and College students in the Detroit
area. The focus was on careers that may not be visible but are there.
The career day featured over a dozen panelists working in various
areas including advertising, design, public relations and finance.
Many of the members of the panel shared stories of overcoming
challenges. Dr. Pernick was able to speak to the students about our
program, and encourage them to sign up!
- On October 3, 2012 Dr. Pernick attended the 13th Annual Global
Automotive and Energy Summit at the MGM Grand Detroit Hotel. More than
250 automotive executives, entrepreneurs, automotive suppliers, community
leaders, and others, met to discuss methods to strengthen and create
opportunities in the automotive and energy industries for people of
