Volunteer of the Month
proud to announce that Kenneth Watson is our volunteer of the month!
Mr. Watson has been working hard within Central High School to register
students for the Detroit College Promise as well as encouraging students to
apply for FAFSA to complete the scholarship process. Mr. Watson began
working in education upon graduation from Wayne State University, where he
set up a full service off-campus advising, admissions and financial aid site
at the Northwest Activities Center. He also directed a career center
for the UAW/Ford Motor Company, as well as directed a program for at-risk
students within Detroit. We thank him for his continued support of our
program, Central's students and DPS.

Events We Attended
7th we attended the Arise Detroit! Neighborhoods Day. This is an event that
is held simultaneously in neighborhoods all over the city. The goal is
to reconnect city residents with each other, learn about community programs
and re-embrace the neighborly spirit that many of us grew up with years ago.
We held a
pizza party at Gracie See Pizzeria for the students who completed our
scholarship application process and are going to college. They each received
a gift pack from us. We congratulate them all!

Dates To Remember
We have established deadlines of September 15 for the
Fall Term and January 15 for the Winter term for receipt of the
scholarship acceptance form and the financial aid letter from college
students receiving our scholarship. We will be unable to make
scholarship payments for these terms for students who don't get us the
documents by these dates!
